Eddleston is a small village nestling in the Scottish Borders but only some 20 miles south of Edinburgh.
The curling club was officially formed and applied to join the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in 1856 but curling in the parish of Eddleston would have been going on long before that.
Curling originally took place on various ponds around the village. One is shown on the 1908 OS map as the "Old Curling Pond" and the new custom built pond, on the edge of the village itself, had been shown on OS maps since at least 1898. The club's home ice is now the Murrayfield Ice Rink in Edinburgh. Although more thant 150 years have passed and the curling ponds are no more, it is hoped that the spirit of the original curlers can live on. Competitive yes. But a friendly handshake on the ice, and a drink in the pub afterwards still lies at the heart of the club's curling.
Members will find the latest club news and interesting facts on the club history and on curling in general.
Although this site is intended primarily to serve the needs of club members, it is hoped that visitors will also find that it develops into a useful resource for all curlers.
