150 Year Celebrations

Eddleston Curling Club will be 150 years old in November

It is 150 years since Eddleston Curling Club was formed. To mark this occasion the club will be holding various events to promote the sport of curling within the community and to encourage new members to come along and join the club. The events will culminate in a bonspiel match held at Murrayfield and followed by a dinner-dance at the Black Barony.

Awards for All - Lottery Grants for Local GroupsThe club has received a grant from Awards for All to help with the costs involved.

Activities will include

  • Running 3 sessions of "New Age Kurling" with pupils at the primary school.
  • Holding an open day and coffee morning in the community hall. This will feature displays on the club and of curling in general. Members will be on hand to answer questions and there will be a chance for the wider community to try their hand at Kurling.
  • A beginners session will be held at Murrayfield Curling rink to allow people to try curling and for beginners to get a bit of practice.

News of the bonspiel and dinner-dance are now available. these will be updated as plans are firmed up. In the meantime, if members have any questions they should either see a committee member or phone the club president or e-mail her via the webmaster.

Friends of Eddleston Curling Club's 150 Club
This is the main fund raising effort at the moment. The 150 Club tickets have 2 random numbers from 1 to 49. If either of the numbers on the ticket is drawn in the Saturday lottery then the value of that number is added to the ticket's running total.
The 150 club is only open to Club members and friends of Eddleston Curling Club. Each ticket costs 50p per week. If you pay a year in advance then you get 2 weeks free - £25 for the year. The first ticket to reach a total of 150 wins its holder half the weekly takings up to that point. All totals are returned to 0 and the cycle starts again.

Contact a committee member if you'd like to join the club and help raise funds for the 150 Years celebrations.
