Minutes extracted from the club's original minutes book covering the formation of the club and its acceptance into the Royal Caledonian Curling Club.

Eddleston, November 26th, 1856

The Curlers in the Parish of Eddleston having met this evening to take into consideration the proposal of forming themselves into a Club to be called the Eddleston Curling Club propose to request W. Forbes MacKenzie, Esq. Of Portmore to be their President. James Wolfe Murray Esq. Of Cringletie, Vice President, George Douglas to be their Treasurer & Secretary, with five members of the Club annually appointed as Members of Committee, three to form a quorum for carrying on the business of the Club which will be conducted upon the principals of the Grand Caledonian.

We the undersigned approve the above resolutions and as soon as a competent number has subscribed empower George Douglas their Secretary to carry the same into effect.

A copy of the resolutions passed at the meeting have been shown to W. Forbes MacKenzie Esq. Requesting him to be President of the Club complied with the request and wished his thanks to be conveyed to the Club for the high honour done him by electing him their President. James Wolfe Murray Esq. of Cringletie also gave his consent to be Vice President and the Rev. Alexander J. Murray to be Chaplain.

 Sir,

   We the Curlers of Eddleston having met and formed ourselves into a Club to be called the Eddleston Curling Club having for our operation Portmore Loch upwards of 60 acres also a Pond at Harcus both on the estate of W. Forbes MacKenzie Esq. We conform to your regulations and having sent a P.O. for one pound eight shillings are desirous to be admitted into the Royal Caledonian and request that you will nominate a Proposer and Seconder should this meet with your approval.

   I have the honour to inform you that at the Annual Meeting of the Royal Caledonian Club held at Edinburgh the 24th the Eddleston Curling Club was duly admitted into the Royal Club.

Received from the Eddleston Curling Club the sum of one pound eight shillings being the amount of the undernoted sum due by the said club to the Royal Caledonian Curling Club.

The first Annual Meeting of the Club under the Grand Caledonian regulations Chapter 4th Section 2nd was held this evening Mr Alexander Mark in the Chair when the Office Bearers were elected and the members subscribed as undernoted.
