Club Competitions

The club takes part in a number of competitions throughout the season. The club competitions form the core activities with the inter club events providing extra competition at a higher level for the club's more experienced players.

Club Competitions

Ian Preacher League Cup

Standard league format.

John Robertson Trophy

Points

Players try to complete a challenge in 10 set pieces. Drawing into the house, knocking a stone out, etc. Points are awarded for each stone that performs the given task. A challenging competition for all and an ideal opportunity for the less experienced to try the difficult shots normally undertaken by the skips.

Pairs

Depending on numbers, this is organised as either a knock-out or 2 round-robins with the winners playing for the trophy.

A.Dunlop Bonspiel

A competition where we try to get the entire club out to participate in a traditional bonspiel.

District Medal

A one of game organised by the RCCC and against another Scottish club.

Inter Club Competitions

Province Bonspiel
The Patterson Rosebowl

League competition between the 6 clubs in the Peeblesshire province.

Mixed Bonspiels

There is a mixed bonspiel between the province clubs at the start and at the end of the season.

Province Pairs

A knock out pairs competition within the Peeblesshire province

Mendick Trophy

A knock out trophy within the province.

The Grand Match

The Grand Match is held on a frozen loch and uses 300 or more rinks to accommodate teams from almost all of the Scottish clubs. The clubs are divided into the North team and the South team and the competition is between these two teams. It can only take place when the temperatures are severe enough to allow the ice to freeze to the depth required to support the masses that take part. Since the last one took place 24 years ago it is an eagerly awaited occasion for all.

In addition the club is always keen to play other clubs in friendly matches.
