Frequently Asked Questions on …

General Topics

What payment methods do you accept?
You will be sent the invoice as an e-mail with a link taking you to Google’s secure payment system. Alternatively you can pay this invoice by cheque

When do I need to make my payments?
There are some expenses that we need to pay up front in order to get your domain and web site online.
These will normally need to be covered by a deposit or as part of the full payment before work can begin. Full payment is required before the web site is published online.

How long will it take for my web site to be completed?
This depends on the complexity of the site. A basic web site, with its domain, can be up and running in a couple of days if necessary although, allowing for other commitments, it would be best to allow up to a week. It also relies on you providing your feedback at the initial design stages without delay.

How long will it take for my site to be added to search engines?
It will be submitted as soon as it’s complete. However, it is likely to take several weeks before it is added and potentially up to 6 months before it is fully indexed.

Who owns the domain name ?
The domain name is registered in your name and belongs to you. You can ask for it to be transferred to any other hosting company at any time. The only restriction here is that any outstanding invoices must be settled before the domain will be released.

How long will my domain last?
Domains need to be renewed periodically. For a .co.uk domain this is every 2 years. So long as you keep renewing it then the domain stays yours.

Who own the copyright of the website?
The copyright for any photos and text that you have supplied remain yours.
The website code belongs to either RuStyx or a third party. This code will not be released should you move your site to another hosting company.

Hosting used by RuStyx

Other hosting companies offer unlimited space and data transfer.
They may say unlimited but you’ll find in the small print that there is a limit although it may be described as “fair use”. It is surely better if you know what you are getting for your money rather than promises that are going to fall through if your website becomes very popular. The limits in our standard hosting package are more than enough for most websites.
The size of a web page might be 100kB. The 5GB allowance should therefore be enough for more than 150 visitors per day with each viewing 10 pages.
If you need more then it’s because your site is pulling in lots of visitors and hopefully lots of money. In these cases the cost of extra space and transfer allowance is easily justified.

Who has access to the web servers?
RuStyx does not normally supply hosting for clients to set up and maintain themselves. There are plenty of suppliers who have this market covered. Instead RuStyx supplies server space as part of websites or online applications that have been supplied to clients. There is no need for clients to manage these themselves and so access is limited to RuStyx.
